Our client seeks to recruit an accomplished Resource Geologist to play a critical role in converting geological data into robust Mineral Resource models that drive exploration, project development, and long-term growth across its African portfolio.
Working closely with the Head of Geology, Exploration Geologists, Mine Geologists and Technical Services teams, you will bring geological interpretation, resource estimation, and geo-statistical expertise to some of the Company’s most important resource growth opportunities.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality 3D geological and resource models, supporting resource estimation, and identifying opportunities to expand and improve the Company’s Mineral Resource base.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing 3D geological, structural, lithological and mineralisation models.
- Preparing and updating Mineral Resource Estimates in accordance with recognised reporting standards.
- Interpreting drilling, sampling, mapping, and assay data.
- Applying advanced geostatistical and resource estimation techniques.
- Supporting exploration targeting, drill programme design and resource definition.
- Identifying extensions and opportunities for resource growth.
- Maintaining geological databases and ensuring robust QA/QC and data integrity.
- Supporting resource-to-reserve conversion, project evaluation, and technical studies.
- Preparing technical reports, resource summaries, and management dashboards.
- Supporting Competent Person / Qualified Person reporting requirements.
- Working collaboratively with exploration and mining teams across Africa.
The successful candidate will have strong practical experience with:
Mandatory Software:
- Leapfrog Geo
- Datamine Studio RM
- Datamine Supervisor
- ArcGIS or QGIS
- Microsoft Power BI
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
Geo-statistics:
- Variography and statistical analysis
- Kriging and IDW estimation techniques
- Regression analysis
- Conditional simulation
- Resource classification
- Block model validation
You will be a technically strong Resource Geologist with:
- A bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline.
- Honours or master’s qualification in Geo-statistics, Economic Geology or Resource Evaluation is advantageous.
- 5–10 years’ experience in resource geology and Mineral Resource estimation.
- Proven experience in gold and copper resource modelling.
- Strong geological modelling and geostatistical capability.
- Experience supporting exploration programmes and mining operations.
- Exposure to African geological environments, particularly gold, highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of JORC, SAMREC, NI 43-101 and SK-1300 reporting frameworks.
- Professional membership with a recognised geological association preferred.
