The Process Manager lead role opportunity is extended to a select group of highly accomplished, senior-level chemical or metallurgical engineering professionals with a proven track record in large-scale mine development and operational excellence.

PROCESS MANAGER

 

Main Purpose of the Job 

To oversee design, implementation, commissioning, and optimization of gold processing systems across the Bilboes value chain, ensuring efficient, safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective recovery of gold. The incumbent will act as the Owner’s representative during project phases and drives continuous improvement post-commissioning. 

Design and Commissioning

  • Review and approve process deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), datasheets, and control narratives
  • Supervise installation and commissioning of processing equipment
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) standards and safety protocols
  • Develop commissioning plans, ramp‑up curves, and readiness‑to‑operate checklists
  • Specify instrumentation and advanced control systems requirements.

Operations Support and Optimization

  • Monitor plant performance and troubleshoot process issues to optimize efficiency, recoveries, and costs.
  • Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) strategies and lock‑in improvements via Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Lead metallurgical accounting and variance investigations and driving corrective actions.

Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Management

  • Implement systems to achieve zero harm and ensure conformance to international safety standards including contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) performance at agreed standards

Cost and Resource Management

  • Control processing unit cost (US$/t and US$/oz) versus budget
  • Manage energy and water usage in the processing operations
  • Monitor contractor performance to Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Prepare cost forecasts and variance analysis for processing operations.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts to achieve cost savings.
  • Implement resource optimization strategies for consumables.

Risk and Compliance

  • Implement risk mitigations in accordance with international standards
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments for control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ESG and sustainability regulations.
  • Manage insurance audits and maintain coverage for critical assets.
  • Develop business continuity plans for process disruptions.

Minimum Qualifications, & Experience

  • BSc (Bachelor of Science) (Hons) Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years in gold processing design, commissioning, and operations; demonstrable Biological Oxidation (BIOX) exposure is a key consideration.
  • Vast experience in large scale mining construction projects that include crushing, milling, flotation, and further metal extraction processes.
  • Advanced metallurgical processes and control knowledge; project management.
  • Assertive and effective communicator.
