Our client seeks an exceptional Exploration Geologist to lead its exploration strategy and unlock the next generation of mineral resources across Africa.
This is a high-impact executive opportunity for a commercially minded exploration leader with a proven record of discovering, defining, and advancing gold and copper deposits.
Reporting directly to the COO, you will shape the Company’s exploration portfolio, drive resource growth, and build a pipeline of projects capable of delivering long-term value.
You will lead greenfield and brownfields and near-mine exploration, combining geological expertise, strategic portfolio management, technology, and commercial judgement to turn exploration potential into measurable resource growth.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing the Company’s African exploration strategy.
- Identifying high-value exploration opportunities, partnerships, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Driving resource growth, discovery, and replacement ounces through systematic exploration.
- Leading drilling, target generation, geological modelling, and resource definition programmes.
- Managing exploration budgets, contractors, consultants, and technical partners.
- Providing technical leadership across exploration geology and resource development.
- Ensuring compliance with JORC, SK1300 and recognised industry standards.
- Introducing innovative exploration technologies, data analytics, and geological modelling.
- Building and mentoring a high-performing, technically excellent exploration team.
- Supporting investment decisions, feasibility studies, and technical due diligence.
You will be an accomplished senior exploration geologist with:
- A bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline
- Master’s preferred.
- 15+ years’ mineral exploration experience, including significant senior leadership exposure.
- A demonstrated track record in gold and copper discovery and resource development.
- Extensive experience operating across African exploration environments.
- Strong expertise in exploration strategy, drilling, target generation and resource definition.
- Experience in project evaluation, feasibility studies, and M&A technical due diligence.
- Professional registration with a recognised geological body preferred.
- The strategic, commercial and leadership capability to operate effectively at executive level.
