Our client is one of Zimbabwe’s leading security providers and a premier installer of electronic security systems. They are seeking a highly organised and technologically proficient Transport & Fleet Manager to take on this challenging and high impact role. 

Role 

An experienced, highly organised, and technologically adept Fleet Manager to oversee and manage a large and diverse fleet of vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring managing efficient fleet operations across different departments, cost control, compliance, vehicle and driver performance, utilising modern fleet management technologies and data analytics to improve operational efficiency and cost containment. 

This role requires a strategic leader with strong operational, analytical, and people management skills capable of managing a large fleet in a fast-paced environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Fleet Operations Management
  • Manage, oversee, and supervise all fleet operations across the organisation.
  • Develop and implement efficient fleet management strategies to optimise productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure fleet operations meet organisational performance standards and service delivery expectations.
  • Monitor vehicle utilisation and recommend improvements to maximise efficiency. 
  1. Driver Management
  • Monitor driver behaviour, compliance, and performance using fleet tracking systems and telematics.
  • Educate drivers on safety, operational procedures, and company policies.
  • Promote team morale and build a high-performance driver culture. 
  1. Fleet Maintenance & Asset Management
  • Ensure regular vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Implement preventative maintenance programmes to increase vehicle lifespan.
  • Manage vehicle asset registers and lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate vehicle servicing schedules and ensure timely repairs. 
  1. Fleet Administration & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate fleet documentation and records.
  • Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Manage vehicle licensing, insurance, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
  • Organise fleet paperwork and administrative systems efficiently. 
  1. Fleet Analytics & Reporting
  • Create and manage detailed fleet performance reports.
  • Use digital fleet management tools and data analytics to monitor:
    • fuel consumption
    • vehicle utilisation
    • maintenance costs
    • driver performance
  • Provide management with insightful operational reports and recommendations. 
  1. Fuel & Cost Management
  • Monitor and control fuel usage and related expenses.
  • Implement strategies to reduce fuel costs and operational expenditure.
  • Track fleet operational costs and ensure adherence to budgets. 
  1. Procurement & Vehicle Acquisition
  • Manage the procurement and acquisition of new vehicles.
  • Evaluate fleet expansion or replacement needs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for vehicle purchases and services. 
  1. Client Service & Operational Excellence
  • Ensure fleet operations consistently meet client service expectations.
  • Address operational challenges and ensure timely service delivery. 
  1. Environmental & Sustainability Management
  • Implement environmentally responsible fleet management practices.
  • Monitor costs, fuel efficiency, and sustainable transport initiatives. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Transport Management, Logistics Management, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years’ experience managing a large fleet operation.
  • Experience supervising drivers and team of fleet management officers.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance systems and fleet management software
  • Technical knowledge of Automotive Engineering
  • Experience using GPS tracking systems, telematics, and digital fleet management tools
  • Strong understanding of transport regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting abilities
