Our client is one of the largest installers of electronic security systems in Zimbabwe. It offers comprehensive and integrated technology solutions to help clients mitigate risk and protect their assets. The company offers intelligent and seamless technology-based solutions from electronic access control systems, video surveillance (CCTV), fire alarms, alarm monitoring, emergency communications, solar systems installations, and other smart tech innovative solutions. 

Role: 

The Technical Manager manages the overall execution and performance of the installation staff and ensures that installation jobs are scheduled and completed within set times including maintaining project costs within set budgets. 

Responsibilities: 

Site Surveys / Estimation

Assists the Head of the Division in performing site surveys and estimating installation costs for security projects. 

Project Management & Documentation

Coordinates multiple concurrent security system installation projects. Schedules installation and service with client contacts. Develops goals and targets for the technical team. Plans time, and appropriate labour and organizes, directs, and controls daily operations. 

Supervision & Performance Management

Supervises the activities and performance of staff and responds to escalated issues in the field for all projects, system installations, and commissioning of installed work. Carries out site visits to verify that installations are done properly to required standards.

Carry out performance assessments of technicians and take initiatives to maintain high productivity. 

Training & Support

Provides technical support, guidance, expertise, and leadership to technicians. Arrange training and development programs for technicians and provide on-the-job coaching and training. 

Discipline

Maintain high levels of discipline and accountability in technicians. 

Customer Service

Follows up on customer queries, and complaints and institute measures for speedy resolution of queries and complaints. Maintains customer relations to achieve high customer satisfaction. 

Project Updates & Administration

Provides timely and accurate project status updates to internal stakeholders. 

Subcontractor Management 

Manage and direct subcontractors’ installations to ensure project plans and specifications are being adhered to. 

Commissioning 

Commissions all projects completed and ensures each installation meets specified standards and that clients have sufficient knowledge to operate the installed systems. 

System Maintenance & Repairs

  • Supervising the maintenance and repair of systems.
  • Testing, and troubleshooting of electronic security system components and supporting hardware as follows;
    • Intrusion detection platform software
    • Security appliances/processors and field sensors (e.g. motion/vibration, contact, buried line, fibre optic, radar, microwave, thermal, etc.)
    • Access control: workstations with credentialing software, door controllers, card readers
    • CCTV: cameras, video management servers, network video recorder Battery backup controllers
    • Gate motors
    • Solar systems 

Qualifications

  • Degree, Higher National Diploma or Diploma in Electronics
  • Possession of Installer Certificates for security systems is an advantage.
  • Computer Literate, in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Earth, and relevant technical software systems
  • Valid Class 4 driver’s licence

Experience

  • 6 to 10 years’ work experience accumulated in the Electronic Security Industry is a must, with at least 4 years in a managerial or supervisory level working for a reputable electronic security systems installer.
