PROJECT MANAGER – Engineering
Main Purpose of the Job
To take full responsibility for the organization of the engineering and construction of the Bilboes Project FEED Phase. To play a pivotal role in delivering a world-class gold project by ensuring that engineering and construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. To directly support the successful commissioning of the open pit mine, milling & flotation circuits, BIOX? plant, and TSF, enabling long-term operational success. To transition the owner’s team from project phase to operational maintenance planning and scheduling.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Project Management & Project Planning
- Provide input into the project mechanical design, the project earthworks, civil and infrastructure design.
- Take full responsibility for the organization of the engineering and construction of the Bilboes Project FEED Phase, including identifying resources and administrative steps needed for project implementation and completion.
- Developing high level projects plan in consultation with appropriate departments and other participants and coordinating steps to ensure participation of appropriately interested individuals and groups.
- Collaborate with independent contractors and key stakeholders to plan and conduct the project construction, including supervising independent contractors on the execution of the project to ensure work is kept within the schedule and scope of the projects, and to deliver optimal engineering and cost-effective project execution.
- Establishing and making contacts with appropriate participants such as various departments, government agencies, local communities, and other private business organizations to seek their cooperation and input in project assignments and coordinates meetings needed to gather input and meet procedural requirements.
Projects Execution
- Monitoring projects status to ensure progress toward completion and that required procedural steps are completed fully and timely interested groups are informed of progress and project outputs.
- Modifying project plan and coordinating changes with participants as necessary in response to unforeseen changes or unexpected developments.
Budgeting and Cost Control (including project closures)
- Develop OPEX and CAPEX budgets plans, including labour budgets, for Project construction activities that support the achievement of project goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate approved budgets and resource allocation schedules with other departments.
- Monitor expenditure on a regular basis, reporting progress against approved budgets and implement remedial action where it exceeds agreed parameters.
- Ensure all project activities have a close out report to include all the necessary documentation, materials inventory on project completion and conduct project post implementation financial evaluation
Asset Management
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement preventative and predictive maintenance and reliability plans, to meet engineering equipment set availability, reliability, productivity, cost and utilization targets.
- Ensure maintenance work is carried out accurately in alignment with planned maintenance schedules and budget parameters.
Compliance
- Execute inspections, audit, work observations, and statutory measurements to ensure that provisions of SI 109 of 1990 are complied with.
- Execute work in compliance with equipment usage specifications, engineering standards, relevant legislation, regulations, and engineering best practice.
Continuous Improvement
- Conduct job observations and analyse production data to identify workflow restrictions and bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop new processes and work practices that remove bottlenecks and optimise workflows
Health and Safety
- Play a pivotal role in delivering a world-class gold project by ensuring that engineering and construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and attributes
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, or similar.
- Diploma in Projects Management or equivalent.
- 15+ years postgraduate experience in engineering in a mining environment.
- Vast experience in large scale mining construction projects that include crushing, milling, flotation, and further metal extraction processes.
- Knowledge of project management, asset management, and application of engineering practices.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex projects and asset maintenance programs.
- Experience in preparing and executing control procedures for both cost and planning activities.
- Hands on knowledge of computer-based planning tools.
