Heavy Manufacturing Sector
A leading heavy manufacturing organisation is looking for an experienced Plant Mechanical Engineer to take responsibility for the reliability, maintenance and performance of critical plant and equipment.
THE ROLE
You will lead mechanical maintenance and reliability initiatives across the plant, ensuring maximum equipment availability, safe operations, and minimal downtime.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and oversee mechanical maintenance, repairs, and shutdowns
- Lead fault-finding, troubleshooting and equipment optimisation
- Support commissioning, kiln start-ups, shutdowns, and breakdowns
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programmes
- Improve plant reliability, efficiency and equipment performance
- Provide engineering support for capital projects and plant modifications
- Manage maintenance planning, spares and cost control
- Lead, coach and develop artisans and technicians
- Ensure compliance with mechanical safety and statutory requirements
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years’ post-traineeship experience in heavy manufacturing or mining
- Cement or similar industry experience is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, kilns and mills
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong maintenance planning, reliability, and cost-control capability
- Proven leadership and people-development skills
