Business Development Officer

Our client is an accredited commercial lab offering analytical and assay services to the mining industry.

They seek to appoint the Business Development Officer; applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and target industries. Proactively seek out new business opportunities through various channels.
  • Develop and implement effective lead generation strategies to attract and convert prospects into qualified leads. Align sales efforts with marketing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients. Understand their needs, address concerns, and provide excellent customer service to foster long-term partnerships.
  • Lead contract negotiations and close deals with clients to achieve revenue targets. Collaborate with legal and finance teams to ensure contracts are favourable and in line with company policies.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to penetrate new markets and expand our presence in existing markets. Analyse industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, product development, and operations to ensure seamless execution of business development plans and strategies.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis to the senior management team. Use data-driven insights to continuously improve sales strategies and processes.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to anticipate opportunities and challenges in the market. 

Person Profile 

  • A diploma/bachelor’s degree in Sales/Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • This role would suit a person with a Technical Sales background.
  • Strong understanding of sales principles, lead generation, and customer relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and persuade clients effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven track record of successful business development and sales experience.
  • Proven experience working as a Business Development Officer or similar role.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to different sites to meet clients and attend industry events.
  • Prepared to work weekends/holidays as and when required.
