Our client in the construction industry seeks to appoint a Workshop Manager.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the above position.
Role:
Acting as the backbone for the operational efficiency and maintenance of all plant, equipment, and vehicles – “Yellow machines”. Their primary focus is to ensure that all machinery is in optimal working condition, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity on construction sites.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Plant and Equipment workshop.
- Managing the Plant and Equipment personnel assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Overseeing equipment, tools, and materials, ensuring proper plant and equipment maintenance and availability.
- Implementing and maintaining quality standards for all repairs and services.
- Budgeting, cost analysis and control, and inventory management.
- Liaison with stores and procurement departments to ensure supply chain is maintained.
- Communication with project sites to ensure plant and equipment requirements are met.
- Providing plant and equipment maintenance management support across all project sites to ensure the required level of availability.
- Implementing and enforcing safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
- Keeping up with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.
- Addressing technical challenges and finding solutions to operational issues.
- Training and mentoring of apprentices and artisans.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent with 10 years’ experience in a maintenance management environment
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience at Workshop Manager level; OR Relevant technical diploma, or Appy trained diesel plant fitter,
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a maintenance management environment with a minimum of 5 years’ experience at Workshop Manager level.
- Must have experience with maintenance management of a large fleet of construction plant and equipment.

- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
