The purpose of the role is to mobilize and manage liquidity for the Bank ensuring that all obligations are met.
To manage the balance sheet by enhancing profitability through efficient and correct pricing of liabilities and proffering advice on the pricing of assets.
To create profitability by trading money and capital market assets as well as foreign currencies.
To manage all attendant risks that arise from carrying out these activities.
To lead, coach, mentor, guide and develop the Treasury team. To ensure that all compliance issues are adhered to and dealers adhere to code of conduct.
Our client seeks a person able to;
- Support the Executive Director Treasury & Corporate Banking and Managing Director in ensuring that the Bank meets its strategic plan, targeted objectives and complies with set guidelines and is in a sound position as a going concern.
- Develop key strategies (these include funding and trading strategies as well as pricing models) for the department and ensure these are implemented to meet set targets.
- Monitor and review performance and institute remedial action were there are variances.
- Plan and organize opportunities for customer interface to boost business growth and enhance relationships in line with strategic focus.
- Authorize customer transactions in line with set policies and limits.
- Formulate frameworks and policies that enable prudent management of inherent risks.
- Advise Executive Director, Managing Director and ALCO of all variations, deviations and developments that expose the Bank. Develop and put in place mitigatory measures to negate or manage the threats.
- Advise EXECO and ALCO of market developments and trends.
- Ensure complete compliance with all statutory regulations, policies, procedures, and internal limits.
- Formulate strategies that enhance client acquisition and retention.
- Develop new products, identify new trading business opportunities, and maintain sound relationships with existing counterparties and clients.
- Ensure efficient management of the balance sheet through close monitoring of both performing and non-performing assets.
- Ensure that the bank meets its obligations as they fall due and that the day-to-day management of the position well monitored.
- Aid in the implementation of the capital preservation and allocation strategy in line with group expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Commerce, Mathematics or Engineering
- The Financial Markets Association (ACI) Dealing Certificate
- 5 years’ experience in Treasury experience in banking required
