Our client operates in the Agricultural Sector with farming and abattoir operations with onsite livestock. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position.
Purpose:
Ensures an effective, smooth, and constant supply of goods to the various divisions and projects within the company, by ensuring efficient stock management and control to aid smooth running of all operations. Reports to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
Receiving of Goods
- Oversees specification, quality, and quantity of incoming goods.
- Negotiates returns and losses with suppliers.
- Oversees breakdown of bulk orders for re-distribution
Preferred Supplier Selection
- In conjunction with HOD’s determines equipment requirements.
- Identifies possible suppliers.
- Checks supplier history.
- Visits supplier premises.
- Ascertains supplier capabilities.
- Ensures supplier legitimacy – tax registration, Tax Clearance, etc.
- Approves suppliers.
- Monitors and assesses supplier performance.
Bulk Stores
- Manages and consults with stores staff to ensure proper stock management.
- Checks and re-adjusts re-order levels according to historic usages and implements a system to re-adjust levels on a quarterly basis.
- Identifies items easily available on the local market and zeros reordering levels to reduce unnecessary stock holding.
- Sets up new procedures to streamline the bulk stores operations.
- Upgrades and maintains an efficient stores security system.
- Controls procurement and stock of all packing materials, factory, engineering, stationery, and workshop spares.
- Controls all procurements and stock of PPE requirements for all departments.
- Manages upkeep and condition of stores equipment, fixtures and stores premises.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Purchasing and Supply or equivalent
- Experience in Warehouse or Inventory Management
