This role reports to the Mill Manager
Job Function:
- Overall responsibility for the performance of the milling operations and of the efficiency of the production personnel including packing section and grain intake section.
- Good team management skills.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Obtaining an extraction rate of Breakfast Meal corresponding to the standards of the profession.
- Ensure a high quality of Breakfast Meal and Chop production.
- Responsible for production scheduling optimization.
- Perform a daily control of the settings and efficiency of the milling equipment.
- Perform a daily setting of the breaks release and check of the product and by-product streams.
- Responsible for the security and hygiene in all the installation of the company.
- Responsible for monitoring the integrated pest management strategy and supervision of the pest control measures.
- Responsible to list the priority interventions for the maintenance service.
- Management of the Breakfast Meal and Chop bin inventory.
- Implement and improve company operation manual policies.
- Ensure packing team follow packing program.
- Ensure packing team operate packing lines at optimum efficiency.
- Ensure Packed bags are within bag weight tolerances and bags properly date coded.
Administration
- Shift & Daily 24hour control of the balance sheets of production and their follow-up.
- Control of bags, additives, spare parts, fuel, water and tools inventory and stock.
- Responsible for the order and control of inventory and stock of goods and items for the operation of the mill (except for the wheat).
General
- Nature of this position means there can be production scheduling requiring 7 days a week production or week-end production schedules to accommodate maintenance programs and maintain product stock levels.

Career Management
Potential to be Head Miller and then Production Manager and then Operations Manager
Education & Experience
- Qualified & Trade Tested Maize Miller. (GMF of South Africa or Buhler Miller’s School or IAOM – International Association of Operative Millers or CGLM – City & Guilds of London Miller’s Training)
- 3+ year grain milling experience as a shift Miller.
- Strong organizational skills are required for the position.
- Experience with HACCP principles and application
- Experience with maize and flour analysis including the ability to interpret laboratory results relative to end-product impact.
- Fluency in English required, and French will be a great advantage.
- Experience working in under developing countries preferred, use to expatriate living conditions. (Away from family for extended periods of time)
- Ability to regularly work odd hours due to product demands.
