Our client in the Manufacturing and Mining Sector – is urgently looking to fill the above position.
Experience in Quarry and Limestone Mining is a must!
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and the internal Company Safety Health and Environment Standards.
- With Sales Department, define Product Specifications and support new product development.
- Coordinate Quality department objectives and targets.
- Maintain product quality to the Market and Standards requirements.
- Manage and maintain the Quality and Laboratory Management Systems eg ISO9001.
- Drive improvements in the availability and stability of the manufacturing process for product quality.
- Work closely with the Quarry Manager, Production Manager, and Process Manager to ensure consistent quality operating standards are set and maintained.
- Establish, develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Control Department procedures to manage Quality control of raw materials, raw mix, clinker, cement, and aggregates.
- Coordinate quality control activities to ensure optimum production and cost levels.
- Monitor and assure the physical and chemical test results of Raw materials, in-process products, and finished products for conformance to plant and regulatory specifications.
- Keep the Plant Manager and Sales Department fully informed of quality performance and issues.
- Performs Root Cause Analyses for any quality issues and implements corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure laboratory performance and efficiency are maintained at the highest level.
- Set and control the department budget.
- Develop and implement the department’s continuous improvement program.
- Complies with applicable internal control standards and responsibilities ensuring that prescribed standards are designed and operating effectively.
Qualifications:
- Degree in chemical engineering or applied chemistry
- At least 8 years’ experience in a similar role.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and standards
- Knowledge of cement manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of physio-chemical characteristics of products, parameters, and standards applied to cement manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of quality control methods and instruments
- Knowledge of process control statistical methods and experimental design
- Management of cement laboratories, sampling, and chemical analysis techniques.
- Experienced in the operation and calibration of XRF, XRD
