 Job Purpose

To formulate strategies and carry out activities that support, facilitate and guide the public relations and communication efforts of the institution according to prescribed policies. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of all public relations and communication activities related to the institution, its products, and services. He/she will be responsible for communicating the vision, mission, purpose, activities and other communications as considered expedient. This position, therefore, requires an individual with a hands-on approach, is versatile, and is a quick thinker with exceptional communicating skills.

Responsibilities

  • To formulate strategies for the institution on public relations and plan activities with a view to enhance the brand
  • To serve as a creative resource for ideas pertaining to public relations, marketing and publicity.
  • To monitor and evaluate the implementation of agreed public relations strategies and the public relations plan.
  • To engage in regular communication and consultation with stakeholders on matters of mutual interest and concern.
  • To plan networking functions that enhance the institution’s interaction with other organizations and professional colleagues.
  • To promote national, regional, international linkages at all levels.
  • To promote communication with stakeholders through various platforms
  • To monitor and advise on all media coverage of the institution in line with the overall objective of enhancing the brand 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Journalism and a post graduate qualification in Public Relations.
  • At least five (5) years of previous experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and marketing skills,
  • Quick in decision making and with exceptional computer skills,
  • Positive attitude, creativity, innovation, drive and technologically savvy to meet set-out objectives,
  • Prior experience in graphic design, website and events management,
  • Team player, capable of communicating at all levels and liaising with farmers and other stakeholders within the industry and,
  • Clean Class 4 driver’s licence.
