Open Pit Superintendent – Gold Mine. “Challenging role within Gold Sector”

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, competent and experienced persons to fill the following position. 

Supervision of Contracted Mining Company Open pit processes that include, drilling and blasting, loading and hauling activities, and feeding of ore at the crushers, to ensure achievement of daily production targets safely. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Monitoring performance of the Mining contracted Company by setting up daily, weekly and monthly production targets and monitoring actual performance against set targets
  • Taking immediate corrective action plans to address negative variance to plan
  • Ensuring that efficient operations and high productivity levels are maintained.
  • Carrying out inspections to ensure compliance to procedures, standards and legislation
  • Supervising the short and medium-term plans at the Open pit and ensuring that all production, safety and environmental targets are achieved by the Mining Contractor.
  • Ensuring that ZERO HARM is achieved at the Open Pit mining areas by taking active and visible leadership in safe working practices.
  • Coaching and mentoring subordinate team members, especially Graduate Trainees 

Person Specifications

Suitable candidates should have the following qualifications and experience- 

  • A minimum of a National Diploma in Mining or equivalent
  • Be in possession of Full Blasting Licence or Surface endorsed licence
  • At least 5 years of experience in open pit mining operations at supervisory level.
  • Strong understanding of drilling and blasting activities in an Open Pit Mining operation.
  • Strong and demonstrable ability in planning, controlling and organizing of resources.
  • Demonstrable understanding of relevant applicable legislations and Mining Regulations
  • Strong People Management skills
