Maintenance Planner and Draughtsman

Our client – Blue Chip, in the Tobacco industry, is looking for a self-motivated person to fill the above position. 

Role 

The Maintenance Planner and Draughtsman is responsible for engineering maintenance service and assistance to the plant to ensure maximum plant usage in compliance with the Company Factory Engineering Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Checks stock availability and quality of engineering equipment, contribute to the weekly Engineering Plan, and ensures that SHE and similar processes are adhered to in compliance with the Factory Engineering procedures.
  • Carries out repairs and maintenance of the Factory equipment and machinery in line with the Factory Maintenance Plan.
  • Recommends the Engineering stock levels required for the off-season maintenance to the Engineering Manager.
  • In conjunction with the Engineering Manager, implements the ‘on season’ maintenance plan, attends and reduces time, and coordinates installation and repairs of all mechanical equipment and machinery in compliance with the Company Engineering Annual Operation Plan.
  • In conjunction with the Line Managers discuss and prepare the relevant information for inclusion in the ‘on season’ maintenance plan to meet the Mechanical and Electrical maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinates and carries out design changes and modifications to equipment as per instructions from the Line Managers in line with Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic best practices.
  • Carries out all technical drawings for new installations and machine modifications.
  • Performs inspections of equipment and machinery and identifies and attends critical maintenance requirements (for example breakdowns and compressor outages and similar) in line with the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance requirements.
  • Researches, recommends, and implements new and revised Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic procedures, systems, and equipment.
  • Oversees the use, care, and operation of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Oversees and participates in repairing, installing, and maintaining conveying and classification equipment and related devices (including electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, classifiers, dust rooms and presses).
  • Provides technical advice and support to Operators, Supervisors, Coordinators, Engineering staff, and contract personnel.
  • Coordinates and tests, locates and assists in repairs on malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machinery and equipment.
  • Updates documentation of all types (for example schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, SAP PLM maintenance logs, instruction manuals) weekly.
  • Identifies spare requirements and orders within the Factory and provides daily status reports to the Line Managers regarding work progress and the status of all equipment.
  • Maintains the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure that all services have been received before payment.
  • Reconciles all jobs scheduled for completion at the end of each week and informs the Engineering Manager by report.
  • Meets with engineering staff weekly, discusses and agrees on objectives, carries out performance evaluation, identifies strengths and weaknesses, and proposes for training.

Qualifications and Experience and Skills

  • Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Fitting & Turning/Machine Shop Engineering.
  • Post Graduate Degree in Engineering desirable.
  • 4 years’ experience in Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic
  • Engineering experience in a similar environment with 1 to 2 years in a supervisory position.
  • Boiler and compressors experience in similar environments.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong analytical and PC skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and identify critical objectives.
