This role reports to the General Manager of the mining operation and is responsible for the overall maintenance of the Mine.
The main purpose of the job is to formulate the engineering philosophies and strategic direction, coordinating the medium and long term for the Maintenance department and functions.
- Monitoring and evaluating implementation of strategy.
- Establishing, reviewing, and measuring benchmarks for maintenance performance.
- Evaluating and maintaining legal compliance of engineering functions.
- Initiating appropriate responses to turn maintenance systems from corrective to preventive modes.
- Setting appropriate objectives to meet the Mine’s vision.
- Ensuring technical effectiveness of maintenance manpower.
- Ensuring availability of competent technical manpower.
- Maximising the utilisation of assets.
- Defining and reaching consensus on departmental KPI’s and measurement of performance.
- Managing budgets allocated for the achievement of maintenance and project initiatives and activities.
EDUCATION
Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
Qualifications in project management, contract management or management development.
Registered (or eligible for registration) as a professional engineer with a recognized Engineering body.
Must be computer literate, Excel, MS Word, Microsoft project.
Must be proficient in Microsoft project.
Any additional engineering or other qualifications would be a benefit.
EXPERIENCE
Approximately 8-10 years post-graduate experience in the role of Engineering Manager or similar level of combined technical and managerial experience.
