Our client, a renowned Legal Firm established many years back seeks to appoint a Legal Practitioner keen to remain in the client services sector to join their team.

 

Main purpose:

  • To assist in various legal processes in the firm as assigned by the Partner/Consultant.
  • To facilitate and provide legal (Litigation) counsel and services under the supervision of the Partner/Consultant.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides legal counsel to clients under the supervision of the Partner/Consultant.
  • Manages client cases and affairs as assigned by Partner/Consultant.
  • Provides Partner/Consultant with regular feedback regarding status of client affairs/cases.
  • Provides clients with regular feedback and updates on cases/client affairs as guided by the PaProvides legal representation for clients at courts, case proceedings, police stations, immigration department and other related institutions as guided by the Partner/Consultant.
  • Performs duty lawyer services for clients as per company policy and procedure and legal requirements (guided by the Partner/Consultant). 
  • Develops, reviews, and negotiate various legal documents, such as pleadings, various court papers, correspondence, agreements, leases, licenses, and corporate policies in liaison with Partner/Consultant.
  • Undertakes comprehensive legal research and provides relevant or applicable recommendations for litigation/case proceedings.
  • Assists the Partner/Consultant in the day-to-day running of the department.
  • Attends meetings and contributes to case discussions with Partners/Consultants.
  • Maintains updated record system in liaison with Office Assistant.
  • Attends and participates in networking events and meetings as per company policy and procedures.
  • Actively participates in developing company policies on legal procedures in the organisation.
  • Maintains knowledge of developments and innovations in the legal profession for benchmarking purposes. 
  • Develops and presents recommendations to Partner/Consultant.
  • Identifies, develops, retains client relationships as per business development strategy.
  • Identifies or facilitates client outreach initiatives such as one-on-one, meetings, corporate events, sponsorships.
  • Exercises and promotes excellent standards of client care at all times.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Laws Honors Degree (LLB)
  • Valid registration with the Law Society of Zimbabwe
  • Valid registration with the Council of Estates Administration and Insolvency Practitioners
  • Certification (Short Courses) with the Estate Agents Council
  • Legal, research and writing experience – 1-2 years
