Legal & Corporate Services Officer – Bulawayo

Our client A well-established Company in Zimbabwe that has been established for many years – currently is looking for a talented person of integrity to take up the challenging and interesting position of Legal & Corporate Services Officer at their Head Office in Bulawayo. 

Purpose

To provide in-depth research and up-to-date working knowledge of legislation and regulations to support the legal services and operations to ensure all business affairs are in line with the requisite legal, compliance, governance, and regulatory requirements. 

Corporate Services

  • Assists in maintaining and obtaining documentation enabling the company to operate legally within the framework of its operation– including company registrations, submission of returns, administrative support to the board
  • Researches recommendations to assist the Company Secretary and Head of Legal Services in providing expert advice to key stakeholders within the company
  • Assists in preparing the monthly and quarterly legal reports for the executive management meetings

Advisory

  • Reviews and provides legal advice on tender documents
  • Liaises with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
  • Provides legal protection and risk management advice to management, especially on contract management.

Governance

  • Ensures regulatory compliance matters are embedded across all policies
  • Drafts and processes legal policies, rules, and regulations
  • Maintains operational documentation of governance documents ensuring that all required documents are available and kept up to date

Litigation

  • Ensures in-depth research is conducted to assist in all litigation matters affecting the company
  • Reviews progress of outstanding litigation
  • Liaises with external lawyers managing litigation matters on behalf of general staff

Regulatory Compliance

  • Stays abreast with corporate law, regulations, and compliance changes in order to update Management
  • Formulates compliance check-lists to be used for the purpose of ensuring that all information required is provided accordingly

Contract Negotiation

  • Prepares, reviews, and modifies contractual instruments to assist and support various business initiatives
  • Negotiates, revises, and drafts documentation for business transactions
  • Prepares and advises on the necessary checklist to be adopted so as to ensure that business information is submitted on time 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • LLB Degree
  • 3 to 5 years of legal experience in a corporate establishment.
  • Sound experience in data management tools and outsourced services.
  • Be able to review, interpret and analyze financial information.
  • Be able to work proactively, independently, and prioritize in complex fast-paced environments.
  • High level of organization, detail orientation, and ability to time–manage across multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.   
  • Clean Class 4 Driver’s License.
