This position requires a physically fit active, self-motivated and computer literate person to manage the daily activities of this non-profit organisation kennel facility.

Ideal candidate will have good leadership skills to train new employees and manage existing employees. MUST be able to multi-task and have excellent communication skills.

Strong Customer Service Skills are required.

Experience in the dog industry is preferred but not required however the incumbent must have proven experience with dogs and cats.

Some weekend work is necessary. While this job is as a manager role, it is still a very physical job. You need to be active and hands on.

The position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deal with public and adoption policies through the required protocol is followed and all paperwork completed correctly.
  • Ensure supplies of gas, food, dip, fly smear, fipronil, staff tea/lunch requirements etc are kept up to minimum stock level.
  • Supervise and train all staff including volunteers
  • Prepare weekly staffing schedules and duties.
  • Ensure all duties assigned are carried out efficiently.
  • Track leave, sick leave, compassionate leave etc. Ensure every staff member takes annual leave.
  • Ensure every animal has correct paperwork and vaccinations are kept current.
  • Have intimate knowledge of all animals in the facility to ensure that all are maintained in good physical and mental health.
  • Ensure any medical treatment required is properly given.
  • Ensure facility is kept neat and tidy and all fencing in kennels is kept in good order.
  • Supervise gardener and ensure duties are carried out as instructed.
  • Support the General Manager with other duties.
