The role

The Inventory & Warehouse Controller maintains adequate levels of stock to meet daily workshop spares demands while minimizing excess supply. The main challenge will be to ensure proper communication between the external suppliers, internal finance, and workshops to ensure that all the workshops’ requirements are met in a timely fashion.

Job Profile

  • The Inventory & Warehouse Controller will be responsible for total management of inventory. The various duties are, among other things:
  • Oversee inventory and supply chain management according to set company guidelines
  • Perform critical inventory tasks to ensure the correct number of items are in stock
  • Maintain updated and accurate records of inventory, including transfers and stock cycle counts
  • Review documentation and monitor product codes to search for discrepancies; troubleshoot quantity discrepancies between stock and records
  • Develop and implement improvements to existing operational procedures to maximize efficiency and cut operations costs
  • Respond to sales inquiries and purchase orders; collect and analyse data to determine appropriate order quantities; process orders for purchase
  • Review workshop operations schedules and requirements to ensure timely order/requisition fulfilment
  • Track rates of accuracy, purchase and return as well as defective items to inform quality control decisions
  • Prepare, generate, and file financial inventory reports, review reports monthly with management
  • Nurture positive relationships with suppliers and provide customer service as needed

Person Profile

  • A Degree/HND from a recognised institute in Inventory management, Accounting and / or Purchasing and Supply management.
  • 6 years’ experience in workshop parts inventory and supply chain management, 2 of which must be at managerial level.
  • Excellent skills in communication, analytical, well-structured, and organised
  • Proficiency in excel, pastel and ERP inventory systems
  • Experience in parts and spares environment is an added advantage
  • Must always display safety leadership.
  • Prepared to work weekends when required
  • A clean class 4 driver’s licence plus valid defensive driving licence.
  • Police clearance.
