Internal Audit Officer

Purpose; to assist the Senior Internal Audit Manager in the execution of the Internal Audit Plan.

The Internal Audit Officer will take a lead role (working independently with limited direction) on moderate complexity projects and work under supervision of a Manager on high complexity projects.

Special Requirements:

• Theoretical knowledge of International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing or International Standards on Auditing, and practical / on-the-job application of standards.
• Good working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Good working knowledge of relevant local legislation e.g. Income Tax Act, Companies Act.
• Command over the processes within the core business cycles i.e., Financial Reporting, Treasury, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Expenditure (Procurement and Accounts Payable), Human Capital Management (Payroll), and Revenue (Sales and Marketing, Accounts Receivable, and Credit Management).
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally (currently estimated at 30%).
• Strong work ethic: very reliable and honest; has uncompromised integrity and personal values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Commerce Internal Audit (Honors)
• Bachelor of Accounting Science Honors (BCompt Honors)
• Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA)
• A related accounting/auditing honours degree

Experience

• Articles of Clerkship completed with a professional services firm (focused on internal or external audit services) or a minimum of 5 years Internal Audit experience in a large organization with a well-established Internal Audit Department.
• Experience in manufacturing or extractive industries is preferable.
• Exposure to SAP ERP is advantageous; alternatively exposure to large complex integrated financial systems.
