Internal Audit Manager – Financial Institution – Head Office

The Internal Audit Manager bears ultimate responsibility for providing independent and objective assurance over the design and effectiveness of internal controls in place to manage key risks impacting business performance. This is accomplished by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to the evaluation and improvement of risk management, internal control, and governance processes.

  • Systematic audits – these are full scope reviews of auditable units. They include identifying significant risks; assessing the design of internal controls in place to mitigate these; testing internal controls, risk assessment and governance procedures and reporting on results.
  • Compliance reviews – Assessment of institutions level of compliance with regulatory; statutory or other prescriptive guidelines – Anti-Money Laundering requirements.
  • Systems development audit – Phased review and signoffs of new systems and processes. Objective is to ensure adequate controls; risk assessment and governance procedures are implemented and effective prior to full deployment.
  • IT general and application controls review – Assess the adequacy of controls governing the IT environment at general and application level.
  • Advisory audits and reviews – These are unique audits/reviews performed based on pre-defined scopes with the objective of providing assurance over the operation, implementation or judgements applied to a process or activity. Advisory audits previously performed include for example:
  • Reporting to Heads of Business Units; the Executive Committee and the Audit & Risk Committee on the significant results of audits performed. Coordinate management responses to internal audit reports through to resolution of key issues.
  • Coordinate consulting services – for example external assurance provided by IT experts engaged and applications controls review. Include facilitation, advice on process design, training, and advisory services.
  • Assist in the investigation of significant suspected fraudulent activities within the organization and notify management and the Audit & Risk Committee of the results
  • Assessing current processes with the objective of improving process efficiency
  • Consider the scope of work of the external auditors and regulators to provide wider audit coverage at a reasonable cost.
  • Management and giving management recommendations for our whistle blowing platform.

Requirements

  • Degree in Banking and Finance / Accounting Science / CIA (Certified Internal Audit)
  • Masters’ Degree will be an added advantage.
  • IT audit experience would also be an added advantage.
  • 3 Years + Managerial experience

The management team is young under 40 and requires a person with appropriate experience and skills to fit in to the team at HQ.
