Our Client – in the Mining sector is urgently looking for an Instrument Technician. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position.
Duties:
- Undertake planned and unplanned electrical instrumentation and control maintenance work as per the CMMS.
- Liaise with planning personnel to ensure work order feedback is captured correctly.
- Ensure integrity of the process control system and perform backups timeously
- Provide feedback to the Foreman on the execution of work for continuous improvement of work methods, tools, standardization, and planning.
- Identify proactive maintenance opportunities and carry out approved modifications to improve equipment reliability.
- Coaching and Training of Learners [Apprentices & Student on attachment] and Handyman.
- Perform preliminary failure diagnostics on failures in order to take remedial action.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety standards.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- 4 years apprenticeship training.
- Class 1 Card.
- National certificate & Diploma in Instrumentation and Control.
- At least 3 years working experience working as an Instrument Technician in the Mining and or Heavy industry
- AC and DC drives and motors
- PLC and SCADA (Siemens S7 and Wincc)
- HT and LT Switchgear, transformers and Instrumentation
- Maintenance systems
- Good safety record working as an Instruments Technician
- The incumbent must be willing to learn.
- The successful candidate must be prepared and willing to work shifts and standby duties where appropriate.
