Instrument Technician

Our Client – in the Mining sector is urgently looking for an Instrument Technician. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position.    

Duties:

  • Undertake planned and unplanned electrical instrumentation and control maintenance work as per the CMMS.
  • Liaise with planning personnel to ensure work order feedback is captured correctly.
  • Ensure integrity of the process control system and perform backups timeously
  • Provide feedback to the Foreman on the execution of work for continuous improvement of work methods, tools, standardization, and planning.
  • Identify proactive maintenance opportunities and carry out approved modifications to improve equipment reliability.
  • Coaching and Training of Learners [Apprentices & Student on attachment] and Handyman.
  • Perform preliminary failure diagnostics on failures in order to take remedial action.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards. 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills 

  • 4 years apprenticeship training.
  • Class 1 Card.
  • National certificate & Diploma in Instrumentation and Control.
  • At least 3 years working experience working as an Instrument Technician in the Mining and or Heavy industry
  • AC and DC drives and motors
  • PLC and SCADA (Siemens S7 and Wincc)
  • HT and LT Switchgear, transformers and Instrumentation
  • Maintenance systems
  • Good safety record working as an Instruments Technician
  • The incumbent must be willing to learn.
  • The successful candidate must be prepared and willing to work shifts and standby duties where appropriate.
