To spearhead Business Development initiatives for the SME Department by identifying lucrative opportunities to grow the SME loan book and mobilize deposits by managing customer relationships to derive maximum value for the Bank.
Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets are met
- Ensure monthly collections targets are maintained to minimize portfolio risk and positively influence cash flow
- Ensuring diverse product offering and development of new products to suit the market needs for the SME Portfolio
- Grow Balance Sheet in line with budget
- Manage Revenue leakages

Strategic planning for the SME department
- Identifying long-term strategic direction, goals, and objectives for the SME department.
- Carrying out market research to establish the most ideal products and services to be offered to SME customers.
- Managing client relationships to achieve the set sales targets and wallet share and ensuring sustained business growth and profitability in the SME department through regular communication with SME customers as well as regular visits to SME customers’ premises.
- Liaison with other departments in the Bank to ensure excellent service experiences for SME customers at all the Bank’s touch points.
- Reviews and recommends credit proposals to the Management Credit Committee as well as the Board Credit Committee.
- Constant Review of the SME Loan Book performance and recommending for downgrading or handing over of non-Performing loans for litigation.
- Enforcing strict deposit domiciliation covenants with customers to grow the SME deposit base.
- Constant monitoring of revenue collection as well as loan repayments.
- Providing advisory services to customers to ensure that they make informed business decisions.
- Continually seeking new opportunities to market services and bringing in new customers by thoroughly understanding the marketing and economic environment.
- Analysing, identifying, and developing business opportunities to drive the SME department in achieving key strategic objectives.
- Selling, cross / up-selling and delivering excellent sales and service of the bank’s products and services whilst building long term profitable customer relationships.
- Responsible for keeping self, subordinates, and supervisors up to date on competitor data and feedback provided for product and service changes or development.
- Developing strong internal relationships to support the successful servicing of customers and the delivery of sales targets.
- Building a strong local profile for self and the bank through positive involvement in community activities.
- Ensuring all credit transactions and credit files in the department comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
- Attending the SME Thematic working Group meetings at the Central Bank on behalf of the Bank.
- Attending to the swift resolution of internal and external audit issues relating to the SME department.
Requirements
- Minimum First Degree in Banking and Finance or any Business Degree
- MSC; MBA or MBL will be an added advantage
