Corporate Head Office – Significant Operation – not based in Harare.
We are seeking a high caliber Head of Procurement to lead our supply chain operations at a significant corporate site. This is a strategic leadership role requiring a seasoned professional capable of managing large-scale procurement, vendor relations, and cost-optimization strategies in a fast-paced environment.
This role is NOT based in Harare – Excellent conditions of service are offered including vehicle, schooling and accommodation available on site.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement long-term procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
- Prepare medium to long-term departmental plans and present to the Executive.
- Provide expert procurement advice and environmental scanning results to leadership.
- Collaborate with the Estimation team to provide accurate pricing for tenders.
Supply Chain Management
- Plan and oversee procurement workflows to ensure seamless operations.
- Execute internal customer requests within agreed turnaround times (SLAs).
- Consult with user departments on specifications to identify value-addition alternatives.
- Maintain, update, and vet the approved supplier database.
- Track all orders to ensure timely delivery and ethical sourcing compliance.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector partners.
- Act as an organizational advocate to improve services and community involvement.
- Maintain deep industry and market knowledge to ensure business competitiveness.
- Represent the organization’s mission and services positively to all third parties.
Corporate Image & Culture
- Exemplify the mission, vision, and code of ethics both internally and externally.
- Enforce a culture of responsiveness, customer service, and respect for the brand.
- Champion programs that enhance the company’s corporate identity and employee welfare.
Resource Optimisation
- Secure quality goods and services at competitive and profitable rates.
- Maximize the utility of the Procurement Information System and IT resources.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through efficient supplier management.
People Management
- Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular appraisals.
- Identify training needs and implement development programs in liaison with Human Capital.
- Handle disciplinary and grievance matters according to company policy.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure team adherence to legal guidelines, statutory requirements, and ethics.
- Manage and report on material operational risks to the Executive leadership.
- Develop and implement internal controls and procurement policies.
- Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to mitigate financial and delivery risks.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Continuously modify processes to align with contemporary professional standards.
- Provide advice on emerging technologies and “Enabling Technology” to improve efficiency.
- Lead the development of non-financial and business control information systems
Qualifications And Competencies:
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management and Procurement
- Proficiency in Cost Accounting and Financial Analysis is essential
- Knowledge of freight forwarding and customs clearance.
- At least five years’ experience in a senior procurement role in an agricultural or manufacturing.
- Excellent negotiating and bargaining skills
- An ability to communicate effectively with excellent verbal and written skills and a strong power of persuasion.
- Good organizational and management ability including powers of delegation.
- An ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and targets.
