Our client is well established and part of an international group with various operations across Zimbabwe.
This senior role requires an astute, experienced, well organised leader capable of meeting the current oxide production and grow a new Sulphide Project in the next two to three years.
This position will have the overall responsibility of mine management.
Under general supervision this position will be responsible for:
- Planning, organizing, and supervising open pit mining activities (currently oxide ore).
- Assist in the implementation of the Sulphide Project
- Planning mine production to generate revenue during the project feasibility period.
- Overseeing the development plans of the mine
- Generic management duties (staff recruitment, training, administration, and budgeting and cost management)
- Managing on site mining contractors, negotiating with suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Implementing SHEQ systems and ensure occupational health and safety guidelines are followed, including emergency response plans.
Minimum Qualifications and capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering
- Not less than 10 years relevant experience in sound mining engineering or production environment
- Demonstrated ability to migrate from a project set up to production.
- Working knowledge of SHEQ systems
- Sound understanding of mining regulations.
- A Masters degree in Mine Engineering or Mining Operation or MBA will be an advantage
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Work effectively in a team
