As part of the Executive Committee, the role will be responsible for the following duties.
- The Company’s project management activities.
- Leading the Company’s internal and external communication activities.
- Championing and providing guidance on all stakeholder engagement management actions.
- Identification and consummation of new business and partnerships in line with Company strategy.
- Co-ordination and ensuring effectiveness of the Company’s Enterprise Management framework activities.
- Internal and external communication activities in close collaboration with relevant Executive team members.
- Supporting the Managing Director and Executive team in the drive for business performance, cost optimization strategy formulation, execution. improvement actions and Enterprise Risk Management processes.
Business Performance & Cost Management
- Acts as a critical catalyst in the Company’s drive towards a performance-oriented culture
- Reviewing and continuously challenging / assisting to update frameworks and tools used by the company in driving performance. This includes performance dashboards, performance management systems, reports etc.
- Challenge trends of business performance and cost indicators with the aim of identifying corrective actions and performance upsides.
- Provides day to day support to the Managing Director on critical performance initiatives to ensure timely delivery by the various EXCO members and teams.
- Leads and drives the execution of identified cross-functional corrective actions aimed at achievement of set performance targets.
- Supports the Managing Director on special tasks such as business research, special analysis, review of specific documents etc.
- Proactively identifies and report matters that may require the Managing Director’s attention.
Projects
- Accountability for Company Projects Management Office which directly manages strategic projects while monitoring execution and progress other projects in the Company to ensure appropriate standards are applied and relevant guidelines followed.
- Identify and prioritise a roadmap of key projects with the Managing Director and the Executive team based on the Group and Company Strategy
- Lead the conceptualization, justification, preparation of business cases and defence of key projects while collaborating effectively with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure that benefits of key projects are monitored effectively.
Strategy & New Business:
- Lead the refresh and/or development of company strategic plans in line with guidance from the Managing Director and based on group guidelines. This encompasses clear definition of Business Strategic Objectives and 3-Year Roadmap with action plans and projects.
- Ensuring that the annual strategy refresh in the annual management cycle is implemented effectively and timeously.
- Support the Managing Director in the development and driving of progress on the strategic plan / actions.
- Implement a systematic framework for gathering industry, competition, and other business intelligence in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing departments and other functions.
- Lead the identification, negotiation, justification, and execution of strategic partnerships and / or new business in alignment with the Company strategic plans.
Enterprise Risk Management:
- Maintenance of the Company Enterprise Risk Management framework, tools and practices to proactively identify, evaluate/analyse and report enterprise risks & opportunities across the business i.e., defining, categorisation, evaluation/analysis of risks).
- Consolidating the enterprise risks and opportunities at business level. Also supports the various functions in in identification of the same.
- Facilitate the evaluation of risks, developing of mitigation actions and monitoring of actions.
- Set up and monitor operational risk activities of the respective business/function and facilitate the escalation process.
- Set up the appropriate forums (and Terms of Reference) to track and monitor mitigating actions.
- Provide required input for Management reports and into Group functions and Board Committees that oversee enterprise risk management.
Other Executive duties include communication internal and external reporting of company’s activities and full stakeholder engagement at Exco Level,
To be considered for this senior role:
- Internationally recognised technical or business qualification with Analytical background (BSc Engineering or equivalent) as a pre-requisite
- Leadership executive course or MBA would be an advantage.
- Must have at least 7 years manufacturing industry experience (preferably cement), with at least 5 at Executive Management level.
- Cement operations and industry knowledge, especially Zimbabwe and Southern Africa region context.
- Experience in strategy development, new business acquisition and business case formulation and defence.
- Experience in Communications and Stakeholder engagement at Senior level over a period of at least 5 years.
- Good understanding and experience with Enterprise risk management frameworks
