The successful persons will report to the Executive Directors and will perform the following duties;
- Compiles and implements the approved annual Group Internal Audit Plan.
- Identifies and assesses areas of significant business risks.
- Conducts investigations into identified or reported risks.
- Develops, implements and maintains internal audit policies and procedures in accordance with international best practice.
- Identifies and reduces all business and financial risks through effective implementation and monitoring of controls.
- Reviews financial statements and reports for conformance with accounting standards.
- Performs application control reviews and general IT audits.
- Plans audit assignments in line with the requirements of auditing standards and practices and ensures completion within the set deadlines.
- Liaises with external auditors and ensures their approved recommendations are implemented.
- Develops, implements, and maintains audit policies as required by the regulator.
- Liaises with the regulator on matters of interests and compliance.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Financial Management, Finance or equivalent or a relevant degree from a recognised University.
- At least five (5) years’ relevant working experience in the financial services sector or auditing financial services institution.
- Three years of the work experience must be an internal audit environment at a senior level.
- Knowledge of the entire value chain from broking to reinsurance is an added advantage.
- Accreditation with the Institute of Internal Auditors or any other similar professional body.
- Sound analytical, problem solving and brilliant accounting skills.
- Strong IT skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to develop and train others.
