The Group Geology Manager will be responsible for continually identifying and delivering value by securing and managing the geological resources of the group.
The position provides deep technical geological direction to all operations within the group.
This senior role reports to the Group CEO and works closely with other Heads and Senior Management within the group.
The role is open to applicants with the following skill and credentials;
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Geology with proven experience in operations and managing technical teams.
- Minimum 10 years proven industry experience in mining operations, preferably gold and / or other precious metals.
- External work exposure within the region or internationally would be a distinct advantage
- Minimum professional accreditation with a suitable organization or body to qualify in time as a competent person in any of the SAMREC, JORC and NI 43-101 guidelines.
- Capable to work with Geology software, preferred experienced with Surpac and/or Leapfrog.
- Understand the exploration Geology and mining of greenstone belts.
- Strong digital preference in ways of working.
- Understand the mineral industry, mass flows, chemistry and value chain of gold processing.
- Capacity to organize and execute multiple projects linked to current operations and growth in an efficient manner.
- Capacity to adapt to the constant changes and demands of the Zimbabwean business environment.
- An ability to clearly communicate the business’ Geology strategy and performance to Senior Management.
Job related knowledge & exposure to the following fields are essential: the identification, exploration and modeling of resources and reserves for the group.
- Geology, Accounting, Engineering, HR and Employee Relations (IR/ ER).
- Knowledge of digitization and record keeping and data on land, geology and reserves/resources in a safe and ordered manner.
- Knowledge of a variety of mining methods.
- Business improvement experience.
- Budget management and control skills
- Comprehensive safety and risk management skills
- Sound knowledge of regulations impacting mining in Zimbabwe, including in-depth knowledge of legal liabilities.
- Computer literate (MS Office), Leapfrog, Surpac
