General Manager – Forestry Estates – Expatriate Conditions – Placement in the Southern African Region

Our client seeks to appoint a General Manager to run the Estates and Sawmills. 

This role requires a qualified Forester with the relevant degree and post qualifying experience with 10 years’ experience at a senior level. 

You shall be responsible for implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, working with the CEO and CFO, to fulfil its governance function, and directing and leading the organization in achieving its philosophy, mission, strategy, tactical and annual business plans. 

The key result areas for the position are:

  • Ensure that the organization’s governance is fully adhered to within a zero-tolerance culture.
  • Lead, continuously develop and utilize all staff members to their full potential.
  • Build and foster long term and healthy relationships with all stakeholders and communities.
  • Ensure that all operational standards are adhered to within a FSC Certified environment.
  • Continuously find ways to improve the bio-asset value, cost effectiveness and end value of the products produced.
  • Oversee the company’s financial performance, investments, and other business ventures.
  • Manage cost-effective operations and market development activities.
  • Manage business risk and maintain internal controls.
