General Manager – Farming Operations

Role Summary:

Our client is seeking a dynamic, highly driven General Manager to lead and expand their poultry farming operations. The incumbent will take full operational ownership of the farm, ensuring excellence in daily production while executing a structured and aggressive growth strategy aimed at scaling operations to 1.2 million birds by 2030.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Growth Leadership:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive expansion plan to grow capacity from 70,000 birds to 1.2 million by 2030.
  • Oversee development of new poultry houses and related infrastructure.
  • Drive investment planning and capital project management.

Operational Management:

  • Manage all day-to-day poultry operations with precision and compliance.
  • Ensure optimal flock health, feeding regimes, and biosecurity standards.
  • Monitor and report on production KPIs including mortality, FCR, growth rates, and throughput.
  • Implement systems that deliver consistent operational excellence.

People & Leadership:

  • Lead and develop farm staff, ensuring a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management.

Financial & Commercial:

  • Manage operational budgets and enforce strict cost controls.
  • Oversee procurement, supplier relationships, and input planning.
  • Provide accurate financial and production reporting to Directors.

Risk & Compliance:

    • Maintain strict adherence to environmental, agricultural, and occupational regulatory requirements.
    • Manage operational risks through robust safety and biosecurity regimes.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven management or operations leadership experience
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to problem-solve independently.
  • Highly resourceful, driven, and detail-oriented.
  • Willing and able to reside full-time on the farm.
    • Experience in poultry or livestock operations.
    • Track record in scaling operations or driving major growth programs.
    • Strong financial and operational acumen.
