General Manager (Deputy) – Wildlife Conservation & Luxury Lodges – “You are invited to join and work at a special place on earth.”

Apr 6, 2022 | Senior Managerial & Executive Positions

We are privileged to represent a conservation company – a philanthropic investment, the role of Deputy General Manager to be based at the wildlife sanctuary.

Located in the heart of pristine wildlife and many majestic landscapes, the Conservancy is the quintessence of luxury, privacy, and seclusion. Sprawled across three locations, this dream of untouched nature is where the client’s idea of the ultimate safari escape instantly becomes a reality in natural beauty for as far as the eye can see. It caters to protecting African wildlife and endangered species while offering international guests creating a lifetime of spectacular memories. It provides a client with an unparallel safari experience in the luxury market.

Our principled client holds conservation priorities above monetary profit and should strive for a favourable financial position, which will always be used towards its overall goals and objectives as a wildlife conservancy. An anti-poaching and general scouting team operate 24/7 across the Conservancy.

The DGM role reports to the General Manager and works closely with the Owner based on site. Relieving the GM of significant responsibilities ahead will allow the successful person to learn and gain inside trade experience to improve their already excellent product for international clients. The skills required are many and must complement an overall personal desire to work and live in this growing tourism sector. The Conservancy retains an onsite team of skilled persons to handle the daily operations. It includes; hospitality and allied services, maintenance and repairs, construction and civil works, inbound and outbound logistics, security and welfare, and every other service required to run the business.

To be considered for the role, you must offer;

  • Strong leadership personality with motivational and business administrative skills.
  • Experience in marketing non-consumptive guest safaris of tourism and natural resources while supporting the limited consumptive safaris during the winter season.
  • An ability to communicate eloquently in front of audiences in-country or abroad in other tourism and trade fair markets
  • Experience overseeing and auditing the guest facilities and tourism products from a quality of service and overall client experience. It extends from the lodges and tented camps, food, and beverage, to hosting and marketing their product line to high end guests.
  • Experience in human resources management
  • Experience in supervising accounting, supply chain and warehouse control functions
  • IT and communication skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Management tools)
  • An ability and interest to expand the science-based ecology department and interface with the local community outreach programs.
  • An ability to Interface with private, Government institutions and NGOs who support wildlife programs and projects.
  • Coordination and backup skills to run a successful Conservation entity.
  • Ideally, with prior hospitality trade experience, it would be best if you were of medium age – with a proven and successful track record in the safari camp and or high-end guest lodge business, keen without a doubt to work in a remote location.
  • It would help if you were of sober habits – preferably a non-smoker, physically fit, and healthy.
  • In return, you shall be well financially rewarded – adequately accommodated (if single married or with a partner) with onsite living amenities and services and other benefits to attract the person required.

This challenging and senior role offers a career opportunity rarely advertised – for further details.
