Role:

The Food Technologist (Technical Sales) will bridge the gap between food science and commercial operations. This role is responsible for providing technical expertise to clients, assisting in product applications, and driving revenue through account management and service based sales. The ideal candidate will use their scientific background to solve client challenges and introduce new solutions to the market. 

Responsibilities:

Technical Consulting & Support

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, providing advice on ingredient functionality, product formulation, and food safety.
  • Conduct product trials and demonstrations at client sites to showcase how the company’s products/solutions fit their production lines.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to food quality or production processes for existing customers.

Sales & Account Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts by ensuring high levels of service and identifying opportunities for upselling.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the food and beverage manufacturing sector.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing in line with company margins and sales targets.

Product Development & Training

  • Stay updated on global food trends, regulatory changes, and technical innovations to provide cutting-edge advice to clients.
  • Attend specialised training sessions (provided by the company) to master the technical specifications of the product range.
  • Collaborating with the R&D team to relay client feedback for future product improvements.

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of client visits, technical trials, and sales forecasts.
  • Provide regular reports on market trends and competitor activity. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in food production, quality assurance, or technical sales within the food industry.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a knack for relationship building.
    • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to explain complex scientific concepts to non-technical audiences.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A valid driver’s license is essential for client site visits.
