Our client, a prominent organization within the tobacco industry, is seeking a skilled and experienced Factory Accountant to manage the financial operations of their processing plant. 

The Role

This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining strong financial controls. To ensure financial integrity of the organization through meticulous management of costing, budgeting, and financial reporting.

  • Strategic Costing:Design and implement robust standard cost models for tobacco production, facilitating accurate cost projections and performance evaluation. Accurately track and report actual production costs, performing variance analysis to identify areas for cost optimization.
  • Comprehensive Budgeting:Lead the annual budget development process, collaborating with departmental managers to create comprehensive budgets aligned with strategic goals. Provide ongoing budget monitoring and variance analysis to ensure financial accountability.
  • Insightful Management Reporting:Produce timely and accurate management reports, provide critical financial insights to inform strategic decision-making. Reports included -profitability analysis, cash flow projections, and variance reports.
  • Operational Accounting Excellence:Manage day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring the efficient processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable. Supervise the financial management of capital expenditure projects, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines. 

Key Result Areas

  • To provide Accounting Leaf Services regarding processing the tobacco to ensure optimum cost recovery and Customer satisfaction in compliance with the Factory Leaf Accounting Procedures.
  • Forecast and prepare the annual Financial Budget for Factory Leaf Accounts, monitor and reforecast monthly.
  • Review the monthly budget and identify variances and reports to the Factory Financial Controller.
  • Sign and approve orders and invoices for service providers (such as Applied Weighing Company), departmental time and attendances.
  • Plan, manage and control the performance and activities of the Factory Leaf Accounts Department monthly.
  • Monitor the performance of Factory Leaf Accounts Assistants, identifies performance strengths and weaknesses, and take appropriate action through the HR Department.
  • Administer the Factory Leaf Accounts through daily, weekly and monthly reporting on throughputs and yields to the relevant Directors and by checking the adherence to the Processing procedures.
  • Ensure that weekly processing schedules are promptly sent to the Finance Department for invoicing.
  • Ensure that Customer transactions are correctly carried out through meetings, monitoring Customer Contracts, and raising and recording the required charges in compliance with the Factory Leaf Accounting Procedures.
  • Calculate the throughput rates per hour for the customers and share this with customers monthly  
  • Reconcile Packing material consumed by customers on a weekly basis and monthly basis.
  • Prepare & Submit the Production statistics monthly.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in operations in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Degree in Accounting/Business Administration.
  • Experienced in interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
  • TOPS/SAP knowledge is a requirement
  • Knowledge of Invoicing and Reconciliations
  • Analytical and ability to plan one month ahead
  • Written and verbal communication and ability to manage people, Personal Resilience, Problem Definition & Analysis and decision-making
