The role is offered to all Zimbabweans across the globe or currently locally based.
Our client is well established and part of an international group with various operations across Zimbabwe.
The position will work to meet the current oxide production and grow to Sulphide Project in the next two to three years.
Significant plant and equipment investment is expected.
Under general supervision this position will be responsible for:
- Planning, organizing, and supervising open pit mining and crushing equipment (currently oxide ore) – Fixed and mobile equipment.
- Assist in the implementation of the Sulphide Project with reference to equipment and any civil works.
- Supervise projects that relate to the development of the Sulphide project.
- Generic management duties (staff recruitment, training, administration, and budgeting and cost management)
- Managing on site mining contractors, negotiating with suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Implementing SHEQ systems and ensure occupational health and safety guidelines are followed, including emergency response plans.
Minimum Qualifications and capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably Mechanical Engineering
- Not less than ten years relevant experience in sound mining mechanical engineering or production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to migrate from a project set up to production.
- Working knowledge of SHEQ systems
- Sound understanding of mining regulations.
- A master’s degree in engineering and or Project management or Mining Operation or MBA will be an advantage.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Work effectively in a team
The current mining operation shall be upgraded to accommodate the existing plant operation.
Significant mechanical ability and skills are required for this exciting opportunity.
