A mining group seeks to appoint an Engineering Manager for the Mine and Plant operation.
The role reports to the General Manager.
The Mine is based in Mashonaland West Province.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Engineering department and be the technical expert on site to support General Manager.
- Keep up-to-date, detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by.
- Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering operational and project costs.
- Monitor and maintain an efficient system of breakdown attendance.
- Ensure above 95% plant availability.
- Coordinate execution of all CAPEX projects onsite.
- Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes.
- Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Check and confirm the effectiveness of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff.
- Control and determine staffing and training needs for the department.
- Implement and adhere to planned maintenance systems.
- Participate in spare parts ordering and determination of critical stocks and enforce adherence to stock levels.
- Adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements relating to the function.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual engineering reports.
- Maintain accurate engineering records.
Job requirements:
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical or production engineering.
- At least 10 years’ experience, ideally in a senior management role and good exposure to mineral processing plants.
- Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex engineering problems.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated attitude with ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
- Mature and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Well-networked with sound knowledge of suppliers and service providers.
- Post graduate qualification is an added advantage.
