Electrician – Matabeleland Area

Our Client – in the Mining sector is urgently looking for an Electrician. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position. 

The role: 

Undertakes planned and unplanned maintenance work on plant equipment, carries out maintenance schedules, carries out standby duties, conducts risk assessments for work to be carried out, and ensures the Electrical Engineering K.P.Is are met. Training of Learners [Apprentices & Student on attachment] and Handyman. 

Responsibilities:

  • Complete job cards correctly and accurately with respect to time, asset classes, sub-classes, and failure causes.
  • Submit Asset Care Change suggestions for Continuous Improvement purposes.
  • Liaise with Planning personnel to ensure that work order feedback is captured correctly.
  • Conduct electrical work which supports maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and installations of mechanical equipment as per planned and unplanned work orders.
  • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance activities in a timeous and cost-effective manner to the correct standard.
  • Provide feedback to the Foreman on the execution of work for Continuous Improvement of work methods, tools, standardization, and planning.
  • Perform preliminary failure diagnostics on equipment failures in order to take remedial action.
  • Identify proactive maintenance opportunities.
  • Create requests for spares and materials and interact with the Stores issuing personnel.
  • Perform periodic, scheduled Asset Health Checks.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Complete intangible and tangible time booking accurately.
  • Complete daily checklists for tools and areas of responsibility.
  • Perform capturing of operational data.
  • Achieve engineering Key Performance Indicators.
  • Report factors, incidents, and accidents that pose a business risk.
  • Minimise environmental non-conformances.
  • Submit requests for non-stock, direct purchases, or emergency spares to the Foreman.
  • Minimise working material inventory.
  • Interact professionally with external service providers and contractors as required. 

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • National craft certificate in Electrical Engineering, 4 years apprenticeship
  • Or National Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Class 1 Trade Tested
  • Heavy industry or mining environment
  • High Tension cables, switchgear, transformers, and instrumentation
  • AC and DC drives, Precips, AC and DC motors
