Our client, a prominent organisation within the tobacco industry, is seeking a skilled and experienced Draughtsman

Key Result Areas

  • Prepares, updates and maintaining technical drawings and engineering documentation for factory equipment, buildings, utilities and processing systems within AOMT while contributing to maintenance, construction fabrication and safety improvements in compliance with the Factory Engineering procedures
  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3 D engineering drawings using CAD software
  • Produce fabrication drawings for structural, mechanical piping, conveyor, boiler, steam water and electrical systems
  • Develop layouts for Tobacco processing plant, grading floors, warehouses, and utility systems
  • Update ‘’as built’’ drawings after modifications and installations
  • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications and calculations into technical drawings
  • Ensuring that all projects and engineering work is carried out in accordance with specifications, statutory requirements, regulations and other contractual requirements with due regard to safety, quality, operability and maintainability.
  • Checks that the ISO, SHE and STRP procedures are implemented and are being adhered to daily.
  • In conjunction with the Engineering Manager, implements the ‘on season’ Draughting requirements.  Attends to draughting requirements such information and technical data in compliance with AOMT Engineering AOP.
  • In conjunction with the Line Managers discusses and prepares the relevant drawings and information for inclusion in the ‘on season’ maintenance plan to meet the Mechanical and Electrical maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinates and carries out design changes and modifications to equipment as per instructions from the Line Managers in line with Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic best practices.
  • Assist maintenance teams with equipment identification and modification drawings,
  • Carries out all technical drawing for new installations and machine modifications
  • Researches, recommends and implements new and revised Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic procedures, systems and equipment.
  • Oversees and participates in repairing, installing conveying and classification equipment and related devices (including electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, classifiers, dust rooms and presses);
  • Provides technical advice and support to Operators, Supervisors, Coordinators, Engineering staff, and contract personnel.
  • Prepares scopes of work, bill of materials (BOMs) and material take-offs for projects
  • Updates documentation of all types (for example schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical data) weekly.
  • Maintains a drawing register and document archives ensuring version control and documentation and also provide technical clarifications and support on drawings where required
  • Develop engineering drawings (mechanical, civil. Electrical), specifications, calculations and other designs outputs based on project technical requirements.
  • Provides input into plant expansion, refurbishment, and installation projects
  • Prepare Scopes of work, bill of materials (BOMs) and material take-offs for projects
  • Ensuring that all projects and engineering work is carried out in accordance with specifications, statutory requirements, regulations and other contractual requirements with due regard to safety, quality, operability and maintainability.
  • Monitoring safety and ensuring project site is maintained in compliance with all Health & Safety regulations
  • Monitors Factory, buildings, utilities for any changes and updates drawings,
  • Tracks installations and checks for compliance with Engineering drawings and specifications,
  • Creates and maintains a logical drawings and manual register,
  • Checks all drawings from Contractors and other sources for compliance with Engineering standards and company standards
  • Updates all modifications done to site and equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings and process flow diagrams.

Requisite Qualifications and Experience              

  • A/O Levels 
  • Diploma/ Higher National Diploma in Mechanical/ DDT/Production/Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Engineering
  • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic Engineering experience in similar environment 4-to-6-year experience
  • Experience in Boiler and compressors experience in similar environment
  • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic engineering
  • Technical drawing and project management skills
  • Proficiency in CAD draughting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills and also able to manage work teams and achieve objectives
  • Verbal and written English ability to prepare and present relatively complex situations.
