This important specialist role Project Cost Controller is required at the Head Office of our mining client. It’s newly created
You will work closely with the Head of Portfolio Management, Project Managers, and Group accounting personnel.
You should be a specialist in costing for projects as a career and not just part of an accounting role.
Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Cost breakdown structure development during project assessment phases in preparation for project execution;
- Conversion of cost estimates to control budget estimates;
- Setting up and maintaining project cost control standards and procedures, ensuring a consistent approach to the function
- across the portfolio of projects;
- Analysis and integration of cost estimates and forecasts provided by internal stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers, and supporting the cost estimating process;
- Reviewing the cost impacts of changes and incorporate impacts of approved changes into the project control budget and cost forecasts;
- Identification and communication of potential commitment cost variances to approved budget;
- Maintenance of overall cost reporting deadlines across multiple projects;
- Integration of accounting actual cost data into the consolidated project cost information database;
- Project structure and budget setup within the project cost control system, as well as database updates with procurement and accounting data.
EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
- Minimum five years relevant project work experience;
- Proven track record in project cost control, working in an integrated project controls team on projects over the entire project
- lifecycle, and knowledge of other project management disciplines;
- Demonstrated experience balancing and organising multiple projects or assignments;
- Strong analytical, statistical, and quantitative capabilities;
- Leadership and team management skills;
- Highly motivated and organised individual with excellent communications skills;
- Familiarity with the mining sector is advantageous but not essential;
- Experience with Project Cost Control systems is required; PRISM experience is advantageous.
