The Bilboes Gold Mine, once operational will be Zimbabwe’s largest gold mine representing a landmark investment in the country’s mining sector.

Contracts Manager – (Mining & Construction)

 

Main Purpose of Job

              

Ensure all contracts are legally sound, commercially viable, and aligned with project objectives, while managing contractor performance and compliance.

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

 

Contracts Negotiation

              

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Prepare clear, legally sound contracts that reflect project requirements and deliverables.
  • Review terms for accuracy, risk exposure, and compliance with company policies.
  • Negotiate pricing, timelines, and performance obligations to secure favourable outcomes.

 

Compliance

 

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Monitor adherence to mining laws, labour regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Implement internal compliance frameworks and audit schedules.
  • Foster a compliance-first culture across all departments.

 

Contractor Performance

 

  • Monitor contractor performance against KPIs and project milestones.
  • Define measurable KPIs aligned with contractual obligations
  • Track progress against timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and site inspections.

 

Dispute Resolution    

 

  • Resolve disputes and enforce contractual obligations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for conflict resolution.
  • Investigate disputes thoroughly and document findings.
  • Apply contractual terms to guide resolution strategies.
  • Negotiate settlements that minimize financial and operational impact.

 

Risk Guidance 

              

  • Provide guidance to project teams on contractual risks and obligations.
  • Interpret contract clauses for operational teams in simple terms.
  • Highlight potential risks and mitigation strategies during project planning.
  • Advise on compliance requirements and reporting obligations.
  • Promote proactive risk management across all departments.

 

Record Management

 

  • Maintain accurate records of all contractual agreements and establish a centralized contract management system.
  • Digitize records for efficiency and disaster recovery.
  • Implement retention policies in line with legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify completeness and accuracy. 

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and attributes 

  • Degree in Law, Business, or Engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience in contract management within mining or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law and mining regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
