Chief Surveyor – Mining Group – Gold Sector

Our client seeks to appointment a Chief Mine Surveyor to be based at their Mine operation and Head Office. 

The role reports to the Head of Technical Services Mining Division. 

You must hold a degree or Diploma in Mine Survey:

  • Zimbabwe Government Mine Surveyor’s Certificate of Competence.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in underground mining surveying is desired.
  • Strong knowledge in the use of surveying computer programs, survey instruments and GPS equipment

Your duties include: 

  • Planning, organizing, and controlling the operations of the Survey Section of the Mine
  • Ensuring best survey practices and compliance with the Mine’s regulations.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring survey systems for ensuring the mining department and contractors comply with approved designs and follow standards and procedures.
  • SHE Management systems
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of all routine survey work to be achieved in line with current and development in mine planning policy.
  • Develop, maintain and review survey codes of practice, policies and procedures.
  • Provide an efficient survey service and support system to mining, engineering, geology and site services for non-routine surveys
  • Ensure the accurate scheduled surveying of production sites to determine the depletion of reserves and informs the mine planning process.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of all ore, waste and stockpile movements.
  • Establish and maintain effective systems for both the electronic and manual storage and retrieval of survey data and plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of all statistics in connection with ore production, layout of developments and projects, and make them available upon request by management and to satisfy statutory mining laws of Zimbabwe
  • Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices as required by the Mining Sector.
  • Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures.
  • Ensure statutory and internal reporting as required.
