Our client operates in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Uganda and with seven distribution companies through Southern and East Africa.
The role of Chief Finance Officer is a newly created role to be based at their new Head Office in Harare.
The group employs 500 staff across operations, logistics, distribution, and head office.
With projected growth through a new capital raise via private equity they are positioned to scale up production and sales to reach sales of $24m USD per annum.
This newly created role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will lead the financial activity for the group. You will lead a multi-site team of 50 staff, including 3 qualified Accountants and be accountable for enhancing the monthly reporting process through improving the month-end routine from each of the operating subsidiaries ensuring timely and accurate monthly reporting of management accounts and producing the consolidated reports for the leadership team and external investors. This will also include reporting on the key performance indicators and reviewing the information required by the business to better manage and enable growth and aid better decision making. The new CFO will ensure that the business’s Leadership Team are in a strong position to make bold and informed decisions to drive commercial decision making, and therefore increase profits, whilst implementing robust structures & controls and introducing measures for cost savings through providing robust, applicable analysis.
Ultimately, the CFO is fully accountable for all financial operations of all Group and subsidiary companies. You will lead on the year-end filing of accounts, taxes and statutory returns are filed and ensuring the necessary processes and attention to detail to achieve clean audit reports. The key priorities will be to provide highly organised and structured financial support, utilising your clarity of thought to influence decision making. You will forge strong relationships with the Senior Leadership Team, as well as being an influencer across all areas, partnering with the business to better understand operational costs, margins and opportunities to increase profit and efficiency. The successful individual will also impact the business through mentoring and training existing members of the team, augmenting both the technical and soft skills of that team to deliver the business needs as LHG grows.
The successful CFO will hold overall financial responsibility for business appraisal and cash management across the group including Capital Expenditure and Corporate Finance.
You will report to and work closely with the Group Chief Executive Officer on all Investment, Treasury, ITC, Budgeting, Financial Analysis, and commercial decisions in the Group. This role will work closely with the Group CEO and will be well-positioned to be their successor. The role will require the ability to be versatile and commercially adept; with the ability to make top- level strategic and commercial decisions deputising for the CEO
You must be fully qualified CA/CIMA/ACCA – 35 – 45 years of age and already achieved senior status. (Please note)
Key Skills and Characteristics:
- Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA).
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior financial position.
- Strong technical skills for IFRS.
- Demonstratable team management skills and experience.
- Ability to specify and oversee the rollout of an effective ERPS.
- Experience in managing an audit process and timely completion.
- Provide training and development to finance staff under their responsibility.
- Experience in internal controls and systems implementation is an advantage.
- Excellent written and language skills.
- Unquestionable integrity and transparency in all regards.
