Business Analyst

Our client – in the Tobacco sector, seeks to appoint a Business Analyst. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position. 

Purpose:

Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial forecasting and reporting function as well as providing analysis of business performance to Management and Shareholders 

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and analyze monthly management accounts and audited annual financial statements and update the models with the accounts.
  • Prepare full-year projections in the model for inclusion in the monthly management accounts – Revenues, COGS, interest income, and expense.
  • Assist the finance team with updating the company model and assist with the preparation of the budget – Require model rebuild so that it has income statement, balance sheet and cash flow, interest income, and interest expense.
  • Improve/ refine existing financial model(s) to align with company reporting requirements.
  • Prepare Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) Pack quarterly.
  • Prepare/ update crop costing model(s) and assist the finance team on reconciliations required.
  • During Greenleaf tobacco buying season: prepare the sales and exposure reports for commercial and assist with the small-scale exposure report.
  • Create a working capital analysis model and the automation thereof.
  • Prepare grower debt impairment provision.
  • Tracking of ESG metrics and reporting to management and board.
  • Ad-hoc analysis – work on any other report that might be required from the model by management.  

Qualifications and Experience 

  • BSc in Financial Engineering, ACA, ICAANZ, SAICA or similar.
  • Masters in Finance or similar.
  • Must have strong Excel skills and fluency in other Microsoft Office applications. Financial literacy is required – this may take the form of previous experience/training in accounting or financial engineering.
  • Familiarity with relational databases
  • Familiarity with coding (C++, C# or similar)
