Business Administration (Assurance) Executive

This role reports to the Managing Director

To provide leadership to the company’s support services to ensure that the company’s governance, loss control and health services standards are maintained.

The successful person will lead a team of professionals in Health Services division, SHE and Loss Control departments. In addition, the role will also assist the Audit Executive in the administration of the outsourced internal audit function.

Administration

  • Contribute fully to the development of the company’s strategy and operational strategies for own area of control.
  • Ensure the company’s, loss control, SHE and medical systems and standards are robust, compliant and support the current business plan for the company.
  • Manage the administrative reporting line for outsourced internal audit team.
  • Lead, develop and appraise staff performance and ensure discipline is maintained in line with the company’s code of conduct.
  • Review and approve budgets and ensure costs are being controlled in line with provided company parameters.
  • Participate in various committees, sub committees and task teams.
  • Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external stakeholders impacting the services provided by the division.

Health Services

  • Streamline and restructure the Health Services division to align to the company’s one company concept and effective manpower rationalisation and utilisation.
  • Provide leadership to the Senior Medical Officers
  • Ensure that the medical facilities comply with legislative requirements regarding their operations.
  • Maintain balance between over stocking and under stocking on essential and critical drugs in line with the company’s medical history.
  • Review cost effectiveness of services provided to employee and non-employee patients.
  • Provide top level liaison with service providers to ensure provision of ‘value for money’ services provided.
  • Approve recommended improvements required for service provision including specialist services.
  • Provide top level support in the importation of very essential drugs in periods of scarcity.

SHE

  • Provide leadership to the SHE department by ensuring that essential policies and procedures are timeously developed, approved and implemented.
  • Assess and implement effective emergency services and ensure effective SHE service delivery to all divisions in the company.
  • Approve cost effective manning levels consistent with the overall company objective on headcount rationalisation.
  • Provide top level liaison with key stakeholders such as NSSA’s Factories Inspectorate and the Civil Protection Unit
  • Approve recommended service providers on SHE training and awareness in line with identified gaps.

Loss Control/Security

  • Review and assess the current loss control philosophy and practices and recommend improvements as necessary.
  • Assess effectiveness of outsourced security services to ensure ‘value for money’ service is provided.
  • Manage the Security Departments within company
  • Review and approve the Security policies and procedures.
  • Manage the tip offs anonymous programme  

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master of Business Administration degree in addition to a Bachelor of Accountancy, Business Administration or equivalent. CA qualification will be an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years in a senior management position with high levels of exposure to good corporate governance.
  • High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance.
  • Astute, articulate, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision making.
  • Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success.
