Our client – Blue Chip, in the Agriculture sector, is looking for a self-motivated person to fill the above position.
This role would suit a mechanical artisan preferably from the tobacco/coffee/tea/cotton or similar mechanised plant operational estates.
Responsibilities:
- To provide Engineering Maintenance service and assistance to the Plant to ensure maximum plant usage and uptime in compliance with the AOI Factory Engineering Standard Operating Procedures:
- Checks stock availability and quality of engineering equipment, contribute to the weekly Engineering Plan, and ensures that SHE and similar processes are adhered to in compliance with the AOI Factory Engineering procedures
- Carries out repairs and maintenance of the Factory equipment and machinery in line with the Factory Maintenance Plan.
- Contributes to the preparation of the Factory off-season Engineering maintenance plan which includes allocation of resources and labour, and a timetable to meet the starting date.
- Authorises Engineering requisitions, and in conjunction with the Stores Team, checks the quality of the Engineering equipment supplied before the Season start-up.
- Recommends the Engineering stock levels required for the off-season maintenance to the Engineering Manager.
- Checks and implements the required Engineering maintenance to prepare for the processing season in compliance with the Factory Engineering Plan
- Checks the line and confirms minimum and maximum stock requirements with the Stores Team daily during off and on season.
- Supervises Engineering work carried out by Mechanical; Electrical; Boilers and Water Reticulation Services daily.
- Inspect the Contractors’ work and sign off completion in line with the agreed contract.
- Carries out site visits daily, including weekends, to supervise the work progress and quality.
- Identifies areas for Plant improvements and recommends to the Engineering Manager accordingly.
- Carries out the Engineering Operations and maintenance in compliance with the Engineering Plan daily
- Compiles and distributes each Monday, the maintenance checklists for the mechanical; electrical; boilers and conveyors teams.
- Checks and signs off the downtime sheets of the two lines and recommends appropriate action to the Engineering Manager if there is downtime.
- Plans and implements the work schedule and activities for the problematic areas, check the equipment levels with Stores, and informs the Engineering Manager.
- Works with the Production and Engineering Teams to maximize plant utilization daily.
- Carries out daily inspections of plant and machinery based on the agreed checklist from the Contractors
- Responds to Engineering maintenance and equipment problems and is on call 24 hours.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Engineering or similar
- 3 or 4-year relevant trade qualification (Zimbabwe)
- 4 to 6 Years Experience in Plant Engineering and Maintenance
- Written and Verbal Communication
- Ability to plan and coordinate work
- Ability to manage teams
