Our client seeks to appoint a well-qualified financial wizard to join their finance department as Cost and Price Analyst to work with the Financial Manager.
You shall be required to meticulously analyse the raw material costs associated with producing final goods for the public and agricultural sector.
You must retain the ability to use provided and collected data to determine optimal pricing strategies, ensuring profitability while considering market factors and competition; essentially, bridging the gap between production expenses and the final price customers pay.
Key responsibilities of a Cost and Pricing Analyst:
- Cost breakdown analysis:
Breaking down the total cost of a product into its individual components across labour, materials, overhead, and marketing to understand where cost savings can be made.
- Market research:
Studying competitor pricing, market trends, and customer demand to inform pricing decisions.
- Financial modelling:
Creating complex spreadsheets and models to predict the impact of different pricing strategies on revenue and profitability.
- Profitability analysis:
Calculating the profit margin for each product and identifying areas for improvement.
- Pricing strategy development:
Suggesting pricing strategies like cost-plus pricing, value-based pricing, or penetration pricing based on market conditions.
- Cost control measures:
Monitoring production costs and identifying areas where cost reductions can be implemented.
- Contract negotiation support:
- Providing data and analysis to support pricing negotiations with clients, especially in B2B scenarios.
Skills required
Relevant degree in Finance and studying towards a financial qualification – CIMA/ACCA or alike
- Strong analytical skills:Ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions
- Financial acumen:Thorough understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Market knowledge:Awareness of industry trends, competitor landscape, and customer behaviour
- Modelling expertise:Proficiency in using spreadsheet software like Excel to build complex financial models
- Communication skills:Effectively presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels
