Our client seeks to appoint a Process Control Engineer in their Factory.
The role reports to the Engineering Manager.
This job exists to plan, control, and manage all instrumentation equipment maintenance, control systems and projects to achieve company objectives and maintain a high level of equipment reliability and efficiency to optimize safety, quality, and productivity within the organization.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensures compliance to statutory and legal requirements with reference to the electrical reticulation, operation, and control of all engineering equipment
- Budgets, monitors, and controls process automation budgets
- Designs, engineers, tests, and troubleshoots controls systems
- Develops reports, schematics, and all design specification documentation
- Helps to streamline operations for efficiency, cost saving, safety, and reliability
- Tests, maintains, and modifies existing systems
- Works collaboratively with design engineers, maintenance engineers, procurement, and other internal staff
- Develops new and innovative business proposals
- Trains and develops Technicians and Graduate Engineers
- Develops and implements appropriate work procedures, maintenance systems
- Performs risk management related to all instrumentation and automation functionalities in the factory environment
- Contracts management and SLA’S for suppliers within their section
- Ensures compliance with the requirements of S160 1990 and NSSA Notice 1990
- Ensures compliance with requirements of tobacco industry code of conduct and carry out disciplinary action as necessary
- Adhere to and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and work instructions in line with the requirements of Safety, Health, and Environment and Quality (SHEQ) as prescribed in ISO standards.
- Adhere to all applicable legal compliance obligations which relate to departmental processes, activities, and products.
- Any other duties in line with departmental and company processes as instructed by the supervisor.
Education/Professional Qualifications
- BSc/HND/ND Physics/Mechatronics/Electronics/Instrumentation and Control or related Engineering fields
- Apprenticeship trained Instrumentation and Control Technician
- Knowledge of PLC programming – Schneider, Siemens
- Knowledge of HMI & SCADA systems – Aveva, Vijio Designer
- Knowledge of industrial networks (modbus, profinet, profibus), instrumentation, and control systems
- Knowledge of calibration systems and proceduresPrevious work experience from the tobacco sector would be a distinct advantage.
