An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join a new Leadership Team in the Agritech Business.
The job is expected to grow the soil laboratory and related services to other companies beyond the Group companies. The person may grow with the business into the General Manager for the SBU.
Purpose of Position:
The Operations Manager will be responsible for implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, working with the Group CEO to fulfill its governance function, directing and leading the organization in achieving its philosophy, mission, strategy, tactical and annual business plans.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations, reporting and budget of the business.
- Develop a growth plan for the soil laboratorythat strategically places the laboratory to deliver soil science services at scale to Zimbabwe.
- Add new services to the laboratory, including Maximum Residue Level (MRL)testing, Entomology, and disease analysis.
- Establish a commercial nursery to provide seedlings for both forestry and tree crop businesses, as well as servicing other regional businesses.
- Establish Indigenous cover crops, grass seed multiplication businesses, and Indigenous tree seed and nursery.
- Manage the deployment and work standards of Ecosystem Restoration Teams
- Manage the work done by the Ecology Team.
- Develop in-houseecology and ecosystem services into marketable products.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc (Hons) Degree in Agricultureor Soil Science or equivalent
- An MBA would be an added advantage.
- Strong leadership qualities, Strategic planning skills, financial planning skills, excellent communication skills, excellent decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- 5 years’ experience in a senior role in soil laboratory or agro-chemical industries.
