Our client is a leader in the Agriculture sector – and seeks to appoint a Market Development Manager. This role is newly created and based in Harare.
The Market Development Manager will run the branding of the Group as well as the marketing and selling of macadamia nuts, avocados & bananas mainly in export markets.
Position:
The position will be responsible for driving market development, as well as formulating and implementing the group’s communication strategy (marketing, branding, etc.)
Purpose of Position:
Market Development: A key part of the role is to identify and explore new markets for commodities across the group, including understanding customer/consumer preferences and requirements.
Communications and Branding: Ensure that branding across the group is uniform, adhering to branding and presentation guidelines. Enhancing the group’s presence on social media platforms including conveying the group’s mission and strategy through interesting content.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Market Development
o Researching and developing marketing opportunities and plans, specifically export markets, understanding consumer requirements, and identifying market trends.
o Forecast long & short-range market potential in national markets by conducting market & feasibility analysis by monitoring the implementation & execution of business development & public relations activities.
o Conduct detailed market research to understand & gather intelligence about competitor companies in the region/internationally.
o Market Analysis: regularly monitor market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape to suggest strategic directions and product introductions across the group.
o Design, implement, and adjust effective route-to-market strategies to optimize market penetration and profitability.
o Staying current in the industry by attending educational opportunities, conferences, and workshops, reading publications, and maintaining personal and professional networks.
Communications and Branding
o Enhance the social media presence by assisting with content creation and audience engagement.
o Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication materials and channels, both internal and external.
o Responsible for the design & execution of press releases, corporate presentations, corporate communication-related brochures & company website to ensure the company’s branding principles are always adhered to.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing / Business Development / Agribusiness or equivalent tertiary qualification
- At least 6 years post-qualifying experience in business development.
- Agricultural experience is an added advantage, particularly in export markets.
